JOBS

It may not be the most glamourous Ibiza summer job out there, but glass collecting is still a great option if you’re keen to work on the party island. Why? Well it’s reasonably easy, requires no prior experience, offers a basic wage, and is a great way to get immersed in the Ibiza atmosphere when on a budget! If you dream of being in an Ibiza bar or club almost every night of the week, glass collecting is a pretty simple way to make your dream a reality, as long you don’t mind collecting empties along the way.

That’s not to say that glass collecting is a cushy job. Much like bar workers, you could be asked to work 6 out of 7 nights of the week and you’ll be working flat out whilst everyone around you parties. You’ll be covered in discarded booze and constantly cleaning up after other people, so you need to have a good work ethic in order to power through each shift and not become disheartened. However, you may be provided with free drinks and shots as you work and you’ll be able to enjoy the incredible music; there’s nothing to stop you from pulling shapes as you scoot around the dancefloor picking up glasses and bottles!

Glass collectors are often required to get involved in the bar clean at the end of each shift, which means that whilst the revellers are heading home to bed you’ll still have quite a bit of work in front of you.

You’ll feel absolutely exhausted after the end of each shift, particularly if the bar has been serving drinks non-stop all evening. The hours aren’t particularly sociable, but if you’re a night owl and live for the after-dark Ibiza atmosphere, glass collecting is a great way to experience it. You’ll no doubt form some great friendships with your colleagues as you’ll be working closely with them almost every day, and since you’ll be out and about amongst the customers on the dancefloor it’s a great way to meet lots of different people.
